As the British and Irish Lions prepare to take on the Wallabies down under, the London based table toppers Saracens are set to host a live screening of the match on a jaw dropping 10m x 6.5m screen, right in the centre of the new artificial pitch located at Allianz Park.

The first of its kind, the artificial turf rugby pitch which first came into use in late January, will undergo its first big test on the 22nd of June when thousands are set to flock to the ground to witness what promises to be an unforgettable game of rugby.

The pitch, which is made up of three layers including shock padding, carpet fibre and a rubber and sand mix, is the first ever completely artificial pitch to be used by a rugby union side. It therefore comes as no surprise that Saracens are keen to protect their prized £500,000 asset, and use the necessary protection to prevent extensive damage from the 13 tonne screen that will project to the east stand and hospitality suites.

This is where Groundtrax have stepped in, and are providing their popular PitchProtecta ground protection to sit above the artificial turf to prevent damage from increased pedestrian traffic and of course, the 13 tonne television screen panel.

PitchProtecta offers strong, durable temporary flooring for a range of pitches, allowing the grass or in this case, artificial grass beneath to remain in a pristine condition. With the ability to handle incredible weights and even provide natural grass with the necessary aeration to maintain a healthy condition during excessive foot traffic and usage, PitchProtecta utilises a self-aligning nesting connection system, ensuring it is securely locked together, protecting the ground beneath from excessive rain water and weathering damage.

GroundTrax Director Simon Adams added “We are very proud to be protecting the impressive pitch at Allianz Park and we look forward to working with Saracens”.

PitchProtecta is available for a wide range of sport settings, and comes complete with edge ramps, cable management panels and expansion joints. For more information and to find out how Groundtrax can accommodate your needs, call today on 08456 800008 or email info@groundtrax.com
